Welcome to Comet!

Q. How should I dress?
A.  Dress for success. Navy and white or black and white are both power combinations. A sports jacket and tie are appropriate for men, a suit for women. If you don't own a suit, a simple blouse and skirt will work. We recommend solid colors.

Q.  Should a woman shake hands?
A.  Always! A firm handshake shows confidence.

Q. What if I'm nervous?
A.  Don't focus on yourself. Focus on what the interviewer is saying. We wouldn't send you on the interview if we didn't believe in you.

Q. What should I say when an employer asks why he or she should hire me?
A. This is the time to sell yourself! Tell your best qualities such as dependability and good work habits.

Q.  What if I'm asked a personal question?
A.  Make your answer short. This should not be the focus of a job interview.

Q.  What if I'm asked about my weak points?
A.  Try to turn this into a positive, by giving a strong point as a weakness such as I work too hard and I'm a perfectionist.

Q.  What if I don't want the job?
A.  Wait until after the interview and tell your Comet counselor. We will continue to search for you. Consider the interview a learning experience.

Q.  When can I ask about salary and benefits?
A.  You should be concentrating on convincing the employer what you can do for them. The second interview is the appropriate time to ask about salary and benefits.
